While boda boda can snake through gridlocked traffic and navigate potholed roads, they are also causing thousands of accidents. That might be about to change with Rwanda version of Uber that works; “Safemotos“.
Safemotos driver’s are equipped with smartphones that send data on how they drive and only the safest drivers are connected with customers.
The app records the drivers’ speed, acceleration, GPS and gyroscope data – and the information is analysed remotely and combined with feedback to give an overall safety rating.
So far Safemotos has 5000 registered users that have made 20,000 trips totalling 500,000 of tracked kilo meters.
