Khoudia has been bullied her whole life because of her dark skin, now she’s a true internet sensation and a model!
Khoudia Diop (19) from Senegal started her modeling career two years ago and has since become an inspiration to many women on social media with over 262,000 fans on Instagram alone.
Even though Khoudia has embraced her complexion, some have not. One woman commented on an article saying,
“If I have this color I might triple bleach my soul because my reflection may scare me”.
Khoudia responded brilliantly saying, “Waking up and seeing my chocolate ass in the mirror is the first thing I do everyday and I can tell you how priceless it is to me and how bad I want to marry myself every time I see my smile in the mirror. It doesn’t scare me at all because it is who I am and I love it.”
Some people in African countries believe that there is such a thing as being too dark. skin whitening creams are widely used in West Africa, so widely used that Ivory Coast has banned these skin bleaching products after issuing a health warning.
Khoudia Diop told The Daily Mail that she wants to inspire other young women of colour and empower them.
“I want them to know that they can do and be anything they dream of.”
She also believes that there should be more diversity on runways.
We believe in her!
