Faso Soap: Reinventing the fight against malaria

Moctar Dembélé and Gérard Niyondiko, two students from Burkina Faso have created an insect repellent soap using citronella, karate and other herbs. Faso Soap won a $25,000 Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) award.

Moctar Dembélé and Gérard Niyondiko are the first non America born citizens to win the Global Social Venture Competition.

The soap that they have developed will be able to repel mosquito’s for up to 6 hours after use.

They are convinced that mosquito-repellent soap will become a new and efficient prevention tool, besides insecticide-treated mosquito nets and indoor residual spraying.

 

Our mission : save 100,000 lives

 

Their objective is to save 100,000 lives from malaria by end 2018 by putting a mosquito-repellent soap in the hands of the most vulnerable populations in Africa.
